About 5000 construction workers mostly from India and Pakistan work daily on the Burj Dubai Tower complex construction site as well as on neighboring sites (mall, etc).
They are paid about 1 dollar per hour rand are on site starting at dawn, working twelve-hour days. The workers are housed and fed in “work camps” in the desert, half an hour’s bus ride from the city and send nearly all of their salaries to their families back home.
