Waigaoqiao terminal 4 harbour welcomes the biggest world shipping companies. On background, south arm of Yang Tse Kiang estuary. On second ground, giant container ship "Balzac", belonging to CGM (Compagnie Générale Maritime, based in Marseille, France), on wharf for less than 24 hours before to go back, at high tide, to northern european harbours. With 6500 TEU (twenty feet equivalent unit), it is 300 m long and can superposes up to 16 containers (7 on hold, 9 on deck). Builded in South Korea's Ulsan shipyard, it was a year ago one of the flag ship of the company. But it has been already past by 8000 TEU vessels like the "Othello". This one was the first to come to Yangshan wharf, in december 2005. With its draft over 12,5 meter, it can not comes to Yang Tse Kiang estruary and Waigaoquiao harbour. On background, ZMPC plant, where 60 percent of world harbour cranes are produced.
