Chili - Ile de Paques - Mission scientifique dirigee par l'archeologue italien Giuseppe Orefici : Pendant cette periode troublee (16eme siecle), la plupart des habitants se réfugierent dans les nombreuses cavites et grottes de cette ile volcanique, comme ici dans la grotte Ana O Keke, sur la côte Nord Est. On y retrouve peintures et gravures datant de cette epoque, mais aussi des signes hieroglyphiques indechiffrables (voir photo 36, 37, 38 ). Certaines grottes ont ete decouvertes par Giuseppe Orefici (ici a droite) lui-meme. // Chile - Easter Island - Scientific mission led by the Italian archaeologist Giuseppe Orefici: During this troubled period (16th century), most of the inhabitants took refuge in the many cavities and caves of this volcanic island, like here in the Ana O cave Keke, on the North East coast. There are paintings and engravings dating from this period, but also indecipherable hieroglyphic signs (see photo 36, 37, 38). Some caves were discovered by Giuseppe Orefici (here right) himself.
