South Atlantic Ocean - United Kingdom - Saint Helena Island : Longwood House, Napoleon's final place of detention. Whipped by the wind, the rain, plunged into fog and humidity, the situation of the exile's house will allow easy surveillance for the men of Hudson Lowe, the governor of the island. On the left, a pole surmounted by a tricolor flag shows that the estate is managed by a Consul of France, Mr. Michel Martineau. From 1854, Emperor Napoleon III negotiated with the British government the purchase of Longwood House which became French property in 1858, since managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
