Historian Conrado DURANTEZ . Federation athlete since 1952. Awards and Achievements : National Absolute Vice-Champion in the discus throw, participated in the World Championships in Brussels (1963) and Salonique (1964). Absolute National Recordman in the discus throw
Captain of the Track and Field team Hercules de la Coruna, first category Spanish Track and Field Champion in Vallehermoso, Madrid (1967). 
Since 1968, he has won numerous distinctions and had many responsibilities in Olympic sports among which: Olympic Flame carrier in 1968 (Mexico), 1972 (Munich) and 1992 (Barcelona), Organizer for the Spanish Olympic Committee for the 1st transportation of the Olympic Flame to America (Mexico Olympic Games, 1968). President of the Spanish Olympic Academy (since 1968). Elected member of the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) since 1972. President of the National Committee (1998) and International Pierre de Coubertin Committee (1992-8). Founding member of the AOI International Olympic Academy
Teacher at the CIO School, participated in international congresses, author of numerous articles and books on the Olympic Spirit, the Origin and the History of the Olympic Games. Most recent distinction: CIO Pierre de Coubertin Medal given in 2002 by J.Rogge. Books in the pipeline:  “The Olympic Spirit as a Philosophy”, “Kallipatira: a woman in Olympia”.
