Historical recreation of the plateau of Tabbet al-Guesh. En route from Memphis, the capital of Ancient Egypt, the pharaoh Userkare is accompanied by his wife and court. He has just consulted with the builders on the placement of his future pyramid. The pharaoh’s architects must check that the plateau is an adequate place for the royal tomb, and verify that the monument can indeed be placed upon one of the required axes in relation to the other pyramids. The construction of a pyramid is a pharaoh’s most important goal during his reign, as it is the only way to reach eternal life.
