Near Hau-Nefer’s funerary chamber, Vassil Dobrev discovers another tomb belonging to a ritualistic priest who served under Hau-Nefer. His name was Knoum-Hotep. In the back of the tomb, hidden within the sand are a dozen tiny white limestone statuettes depicting the priest standing, sitting, all with the inscription “the ritual priest Knoum-Hotep.” Suddenly, a detail jumps out at Vasil Dobrev. On the lintel of the tomb’s entrance, Knoum-Hotep is depicted with his wide Itchi and their daughter Khuit. Could this Khuit be Hau-Nefer’s wife, Khuti? Khuti and Khuit are in fact two versions of the same name. If this were the case, Knoum-Hotep would have been Hau-Nefer’s father-in-law.
