The inside right block of the entrance to Hau-Nefer’s tomb depicts the priest, on the left in red, and his wife, Khuti, on the right in yellow, bringing him offerings. Between them is their eldest son. Vassil Dobrev notes that part of the text depicting the priest’s life has been intentionally erased. The beginning of the text is still visible, and reads “Loved by Anubis, loved by Osiris, loved by the King and their Gods…I was a…”. Then the text is gone. Did the missing text reveal details about a contested rise to the throne by Userkare, Pepi I’s predecessor?
