At the Tabbet al-Guesh site, archeologists have begun excavating a necropolis dating from the Late Period, more specifically the Sait Egyptian Period (750-732 BCE). Here, the ‘rais’, the leader of the workmen, cleans the skeleton and the wooden sarcophagus before they are photographed and logged in the best possible conditions.
