General view of the viaduct’s construction site in June, 2003. The first of seven parts of the metallic roadway in the launching stage from the southern bank of the Tarn valley. Throughout this critical stage, in which calculations must be extremely precise, the roadway is “pushed” in the center of the valley before a new part of the roadway comes to push it to the next pier, 342 meters ahead. In the background on the left, the Red Limestone Plateau. In the center, the city of Millau. On the right, the Larzac Limestone Plateau.
