Located in Arts Square, a statue of Alexandre Pushkin (1799-1836),
Russia's most famous poet who spent many years in St Petersburg. Considered
to be the father of Russian modern literature, he died tragically in a duel
which he provoked to defend the honor of his wife, the beautiful Natalia
Gontcharova. In the background, the neo-classical front of the Russian
Museum.
