Saint Isaac's Cathedral. On the dome's ceiling, "the Virgin Majesty" by
Karl Brioullov, dating back to 1847. This painting which extends over a
surface of 816 m2, is surrounded by golden stucco mouldings and white marble.
The cathedral's vaults (here, at the bottom of the picture) were painted by
Fedor Bruni (1800-1875), head of the Russian Academic School and one of the
period's most famous artists.
