Helena Tunina in front of the sphinx' imperial bronze in front of the
School of Fine Arts. In the background, St Isaac's Cathedral's golden cupola in the frosted light. Helena holds a PhD in Art History from St Petersburg University (subsidiary of the one in Budapest financed by Georges Soros).
She is fascinated by Franco-Russian exchanges in late 19th Century sculpture, particularly by sculptor Joseph Bernard's work, whose patented technique of direct sculpting in semi-hardened cement is one she tries to diffuse.
