In front of the Strelka (the tip) of Vassilievski Island, St Petersburg's
young married couples celebrate their union on the frozen Neva. The numerous
champagne bottles strewn across the ice show the vitality of this tradition.
In the background, the Palace banks with, from left to right, the Admiralty,
Saint Isaac's Cathedral, the Dvortsovy Bridge, and one of the Rostral Columns
which originally served as a lighthouse to boats entering the port.
