Peak of Eparges, aerial view. Top right, the village of Eparges. Bottom center, the monument of the Point X, at the foot of which stumbled French troops throughout the war, until the arrival of American troops in 1918. The former front line is now indicated by a paved road, visible at left center (left of the road, the German lines, right, the French lines). On the north side of the monument, it is reminded the sacrifice of "Those who have no grave." The remains of about 10,000 unknown soldiers are buried.
