Battle of Verdun: Remains of the battery of Duzey, near the eponymous village. These huge concrete infrastructure were appointed at the beginning of the war by the Germans. Located in the Bois de Warphémont, the location of the Canon "SKL Max 45" 380 mm was one of the most hidden places (to mislead the French aviation) and more strategic of the German rear front. The gun was originally designed to fit a battleship of the German Navy. The tank which allowed the gun has a depth of 4 meters and a diameter of 23 meters. Operational in October 1915, the long-range gun (about 45 kilometers) pulled its 750 kg shells towards Verdun at the beginning of the battle, on 21 February 1916.
