Fighting in Argonne: Butte of Vauquois: Detail of commemorative monument, built at the foot of the remains of first french trenches lines (north side). In the craters of the hill, about 17 km from wells, tunnels and branches, appointed by the French and German troops to house veterans and feed mine warfare, which reached its climax here: 519 explosions (199 German and 320 French ) there were identified.
