Battle of Artois: At Neuville Saint Vaast, overview of the largest German cemetery of France, with its characteristic black crosses. Those who now rest in this cemetery died in the fierce fighting in Artois : in the heights of Lorette from August 1914 to late 1915, around the hill at Vimy, easter 1917 and fall 1918, and in the continual trench warfare between major offensives. It contains 44,833 graves of German soldiers.
