Here the team approaches the Zin in the Bugti desert (background: see photo 48) to begin the excavation at Lundo and Paali sites, recognized a year earlier as being exceptionally rich in fossils. The team travels by dromedary, the only means of transport adapted to the combination of heavy loads, uneven terrain and a dry climate.
