On the left, the north tower, which were lowered four ancient bells, cast in the nineteenth century. Of poor quality, they had replaced the original bells, these having been melted during the French Revolution. On the occasion of the 850th anniversary, it was decided to restore the initial ring. The next nine bells of Notre Dame are : located in the North Tower: Gabriel (A sharp), 4160 kg; Anne Geneviève (B), 3480 kg; Denis (C sharp), 2500 kg; Marcel (D sharp), 1925 kg; Etienne (F), 1490 kg; Joseph Benoit (F sharp), 1310 kg Maurice (G sharp), 1010 kg and Jean-Marie (A sharp) 780 kg. Which must be added the big bell Mary, located in the South Tower (G sharp), 6200 kg.
