The rooms of the Treasury, gathered in the sacristy of the chapter since the mid-nineteenth century. Their arrangements, made by Viollet le Duc, was renovated at the 850th anniversary of the cathedral. The rooms exhibit an impressive collection of ornaments, chalices, crosses, cameos representing the popes from St. Peter, and reliquaries (the original Treasury was looted during the Revolution). Here, collection of cameos. These figures of the 268 popes who are successor of St. Peter to Pius IX were carved on coral by engravers of Torre del Greco (near Naples) which is the specialty. On the occasion of the visit of Pope Benedict XVI in September 2008, the association Maurice de Sully has donated to the Cathedral the effigy of the ten following popes, including the last four (bottom), who are the work of the goldsmith Goudji Red and engraver Pierre Rouge-Pullon.
