The south facade, only visible from the quays of the left bank of the Seine. Because this side of the cathedral, with the rectory and the sacristy, is closed to the public. The south transept, last major block to have been built, is a masterpiece of flamboyant Gothic. The huge Rose, with its 13.1 meters diameter, was provided by Saint Louis. Damaged several times, it was restored by Viollet-le-Duc in the nineteenth century, who rotate it from 15 degrees to give a vertical axis and consolidate. Under the Rose, the portal of Saint Etienne (photos 72-75). Altitude 32 meters.
