Level of the Rose. At the center of west facade, Notre Dame, the Virgin to whom the cathedral is dedicated. The statue of the Virgin Mary stands in the center of the facade, front to the rose, to welcome the 20 million of visitors who tread the square each year. Accompanied by two angels, Christ Child holds in his hand a pomegranate, the fruit of love. With nearly 10 meters in diameter, the large Rose was long the more larger than builders have dared to assemble. Its design is so perfect that none of its components moved for more than seven centuries. View from the square, it forms like an aureole to the Virgin. Altitude 27 meters.
