At the height of the great gallery of chimeras and gargoyles, which connects the base of the towers. Gargoyles (bottom) have been restored in nineteenth century from model of the Middle Ages. In contrast, chimeras (above) came out of the imagination of the architect Viollet le Duc. Built 150 years ago, this scary bestiary, barely visible from the ground, is now part of the image of Notre Dmae. Here, the southwest corner of the south tower, at an altitude of 43 meters.
