Paris, where Joan of Arc attempted an offensive Sept. 8, 1429 to retake the city from the English. Located at the site of the present place André Malraux (in the 1st district), the Porte St. Honore formed a square of a floor with a round tower at each corner. Joan of Arc attempted an offensive but it failed and she was wounded by an arrow in the thigh, as she probed the water-filled ditch to fill it with fagots.
