Meroitic language, "the Etruscan Africa" remains to be elucidated and remains a key challenge for the decryption of lost civilizations. It is from the second century BC which appears to Meroe a specific writing, resulting in the abandonment of Egyptian hieroglyphics in favor of including 23 new alphabetic signs, near the Egyptian cursive writing (use) and Egyptian hieroglyphics (use royal cult). We can therefore read the texts, but we do not yet understand.
Here, a fragment of a limestone stele dating from the King Aryaman (third century AD.). During the early days of the Meroitic period, the Egyptian language (hieroglyphics) was used for inscriptions dedicated to the monuments. This text is one of two found in Egyptian hieroglyphics, where the king is mentioned Aryaman, the latter being poorly located in the chronology of Meroitic kings.
