The French artist Thierry Black at work. Among the artists invited to restore their work on the East Side Gallery, we chose to follow the work of the only French artist Thierry Black (who began the restoration work September 15, 2009). As early as 1984 and at the peril of his life, he was the first to dare to paint on the east side of the Wall. Between 1984 and 1989, the style of his portraits has gradually simplified because the most important was for him to be able to complete a face in one hour time limit between two rounds of "Vopos," the police are German. Since then, the sleek style of his figures of "Dialogue" has become famous worldwide and his work is exhibited in galleries from California to Japan. It was he who painted the wall in the Wim Wenders film "Wings of Desire," which received the Award for Best Director at Cannes in 1987.
