This scene, which is a part of the long Nile frieze on the peristyle of the House of the Sculptor, was easily visible to passers-by. It shows naked pigmies dancing on a papyrus barque with a bow in the shape of a phallus. The phallus’ “stream”, an original and witty detail, directed towards the two ducks (not visible in this photo), was certainly intended to make onlookers laugh.
